A Glimpse of Gambit, Wolverine’s Co-Star

November 30, 2008

brdiv align=centerimg hspace=4 vspace=4 border=1 src=http://www.blogcdn.com/www.cinematical.com/media/2008/11/gambit.png alt= /br /br / div align=leftThe first pic ofa href=http://www.imdb.com/name/nm2018237/ Taylor Kitsch/a as the card-charging mutant Gambit has leaked on the internet, scanned from the pages of a href=http://www.empireonline.comemEmpire’s/em/a upcoming emWolverine /emthemed issue. He’s quite dapper, isn’t he? You can get away with wearing silky purple shirts and velvet vests when you’re a mutant who can charge each day objects with lethal kinetic energy. Anyone who mocks your taste in colors and fabrics is going to end up fried by a card, a bowl of pretzels, whatever he can grab first.br /br /Cheesy clothing aside, I think Kitsch embodies Gambit quite well. He’s got the right amount of scruff, the right hair, and he flings his cards with a casual machismo. This character is one of my biggest stumbling blocks for the motion picture, because I just don’t get where he fits into a Wolverine origin story. He was a buddy to Wolverine in many of the comics, but was usually relegated to being a French Captain Obvious. Mon ami, you are going to use them adamantium claws, no? Fans love him though, and after being left out of threeem X-Men/em movies, I suspect they’ve used any excuse they have the ability to to work him in. But I know Gambit fans are psyched — and the fact that he’s probably being groomed for a spin-off should make up for his lack ofem X-Men/em screentime. br /br /br //div /divpFiled under: a href=http://www.cinematical.com/category/action-and-adventure/ rel=tagAction/a, a href=http://www.cinematical.com/category/fandom/ rel=tagFandom/a, a href=http://www.cinematical.com/category/20th-century-fox/ rel=tag20th Century Fox/a, a href=http://www.cinematical.com/category/newsstand/ rel=tagNewsstand/a, a href=http://www.cinematical.com/category/movie-marketing/ rel=tagMovie Marketing/a, a href=http://www.cinematical.com/category/comic-superhero-geek/ rel=tagComic/Superhero/Geek/a, a href=http://www.cinematical.com/category/remakes-and-sequels/ rel=tagRemakes and Sequels/a, a href=http://www.cinematical.com/category/images/ rel=tagImages/a/pp style=clear: both; padding: 8px 0 0 0; height: 2px; font-size: 1px; border: 0; margin: 0; padding: 0; /ppa href=http://www.cinematical.com/2008/11/29/a-glimpse-of-gambit-wolverines-co-star/ rel=bookmark title=Permanent link to this entryPermalink/a | a href=http://www.cinematical.com/forward/1385985/ title=Send this entry to a friend via emailEmail this/a | a href=http://www.cinematical.com/2008/11/29/a-glimpse-of-gambit-wolverines-co-star/#comments title=View reader comments on this entryComments/a/p pa href=http://feedads.googleadservices.com/~at/gfmNKf12ypmoBJtv1gSQ4F_ZyCk/aimg src=http://feedads.googleadservices.com/~at/gfmNKf12ypmoBJtv1gSQ4F_ZyCk/i border=0 ismap=true/img/a/pdiv class=feedflare a href=http://feedproxy.google.com/~f/weblogsinc/cinematical?a=EuQOFZWdimg src=http://feedproxy.google.com/~f/weblogsinc/cinematical?i=EuQOFZWd border=0/img/a a href=http://feedproxy.google.com/~f/weblogsinc/cinematical?a=ZbNoB7G8img src=http://feedproxy.google.com/~f/weblogsinc/cinematical?i=ZbNoB7G8 border=0/img/a /divimg src=http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/weblogsinc/cinematical/~4/ufHRgUauWf0 height=1 width=1/ a target=_blank rel=nofollow href=’http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/weblogsinc/cinematical/~3/ufHRgUauWf0/’Via [cinematical]/abr
