Screenwriters aren#8217;t always to blame for how a film turns out, but I certainly watch for them a lot more than I used to. Good screenwriters over time have a list of films that they’re able to be proud of. Some projects will suck, some won’t make the translation to film from the page, but over time a track record of quality stands up. For example if I see the name of Harold Ramis - I’m going to assume that the motion picture will rule a target=_blank rel=nofollow href=http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000601/based on his histor/ay./p pFor those of you that are genuinely excited about the XXX franchise (or those that have a morbid curiosity) I hope that this news has tickled your fancy and set your feet to dancing! The Jonas Bros. Team with a Farting Dog

November 18, 2008

brimg hspace=4 height=289 width=450 vspace=4 border=1 align=middle alt= src=http://www.blogcdn.com/www.cinematical.com/media/2008/10/jonasbrothers-(2).jpg /br /br /Quick, name two things you’ve always wanted to see in a movie on the large screen …br /br /If you answered the a href=http://www.moviefone.com/celebrity/jonas-brothers/405704/filmographyJonas Bros./a and a farting dog, then I’ve some hella good news for you. 20th Century Fox has seduced the much sought-after Jonas boys (think: this generation’s Hanson) into starring in their first feature, and it’s called … emWalter the Farting Dog/em. Okay. What’s creepier: That these three boys wanted this project to be their massive film debut or that thousands of pre-teen girls will eventually jam and smash their way into theaters for a movie with the word ‘farting’ in the title? Wait, don’t answer that.br /br /All kidding aside, though, my dog churns out some seriously stinky surprises on a daily basis, and so I wholeheartedly sympathize with anyone whose animal likes to spread his or her most delicious fragrance all throughout the house. Interestingly enough, emWalter the Farting Dog/em is based on a a href=http://www.amazon.com/Walter-Farting-Dog-William-Kotzwinkle/dp/1583940537very popular series of books/a about a fat farting dog who joins a family of musicians (hey, the Jonas Bros. are musicians!) when the dog’s owner (their aunt) falls sick and passes away. Oh, and here’s the cherry for the top of this scrumptious cake: Peter and Bobby Farrelly (a href=http://www.moviefone.com/movie/theres-something-about-mary/3222/mainemThere’s Something About Mary/em/a) might direct the thing. I guess if you’re looking for a couple of dudes who do fart jokes for a living, you can’t really go wrong with those Farrelly boys … except if you want your motion picture to turn out good. Ouch. I still love ya emMary/em! br /br /What state you Jonas fans? Is this the perfect project for these boys, or should they seek out something a tad less icky? br /br /[via ema href=http://www.variety.com/article/VR1117994756.html?categoryid=13amp;cs=1amp;nid=2564Variety/a/em]pFiled under: a href=http://www.cinematical.com/category/comedy/ rel=tagComedy/a, a href=http://www.cinematical.com/category/casting/ rel=tagCasting/a, a href=http://www.cinematical.com/category/fandom/ rel=tagFandom/a, a href=http://www.cinematical.com/category/family-films/ rel=tagFamily Films/a, a href=http://www.cinematical.com/category/newsstand/ rel=tagNewsstand/a/pp style=clear: both; padding: 8px 0 0 0; height: 2px; font-size: 1px; border: 0; margin: 0; padding: 0; /ppa href=http://www.cinematical.com/2008/10/28/the-jonas-bros-team-with-a-farting-dog/ rel=bookmark title=Permanent link to this entryPermalink/a | a href=http://www.cinematical.com/forward/1355090/ title=Send this entry to a friend via emailEmail this/a | a href=http://www.cinematical.com/2008/10/28/the-jonas-bros-team-with-a-farting-dog/#comments title=View reader comments on this entryComments/a/pdiv class=feedflare a href=http://feeds.feedburner.com/~f/weblogsinc/cinematical?a=hPODmimg src=http://feeds.feedburner.com/~f/weblogsinc/cinematical?i=hPODm border=0/img/a a href=http://feeds.feedburner.com/~f/weblogsinc/cinematical?a=BMzRmimg src=http://feeds.feedburner.com/~f/weblogsinc/cinematical?i=BMzRm border=0/img/a /divimg src=http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/weblogsinc/cinematical/~4/434821471 height=1 width=1/ a target=_blank rel=nofollow href=’http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/weblogsinc/cinematical/~3/434821471/’Via [cinematical]/abr

The idea came from Gris, and everybody cares about his book about it. The original story is far more perverse and spooky and semi-necrophilia vibe to it in certain aspects. Gris certainly has that vein in him, he wants to do this with that original spookiness in it, we’re trying to get it going./p pThe strongJim Henson Company/strong is the behind it and we are currently working on the screenplay! Its not coming to a screen near you any time soon, even if it were to begin this day it would be about three years in the making, but we’re working to make it happen. A full-scale puppet universe takes time./p/blockquote pFans of Hellboy 2 will remember that the opening sequence featured a stop-motion puppet sequence, so this medium is certainly not new to del Toro. It was a bit jarring to see such a drastic change of style in a Hellboy film, but it served the story well and suited del Toro#8217;s fantastical style. He also hints at a feature-length puppet film of his own coming along, but unfortunately couldn#8217;t say much on the topic./p pI#8217;m a fan of stop-motion animation in general, so it#8217;s great to see del Toro show some love to an arguably dying genre. This also makes me wonder if he#8217;ll ever make the jump to traditional animation as well. A Guillermo del Toro written/directed project produced by an anime company could be pretty fantastic in my view./p pstrongDiscuss: What do you think about Guillermo del Toro#8217;s jump into stop-motion puppetry? Are there any other fairy tale or folklore properties you#8217;d like to see handled in the same way? /strong pstrongRelated Stories/strong/p ul class=related_post lia target=_blank rel=nofollow href=http://www.slashfilm.com/2008/10/10/orphanage-director-juan-antonio-bayona-to-direct-hater/ title=#8220;Orphanage#8221; Director Juan Antonio Bayona To Direct #8220;Hater#8221;#8220;Orphanage#8221; Director Juan Antonio Bayona To Direct #8220;Hater#8221;/a/li lia target=_blank rel=nofollow href=http://www.slashfilm.com/2008/10/08/guillermo-del-toro-tries-to-explain-the-hobbit-sequel/ title=Guillermo del Toro Tries To Explain The Hobbit SequelGuillermo del Toro Tries To Explain The Hobbit Sequel/a/li lia target=_blank rel=nofollow href=http://www.slashfilm.com/2008/10/05/guillermo-del-toros-frankenstein-is-not-the-traditional-creation-story/ title=Guillermo del Toro#8217;s Frankenstein is Not The Traditional Creation StoryGuillermo del Toro#8217;s Frankenstein is Not The Traditional Creation Story/a/li lia target=_blank rel=nofollow href=http://www.slashfilm.com/2008/10/03/cuaron-gonzalez-and-del-toro-to-produce-rodrigo-garcias-mother-and-child/ title=Cuaron, Gonzalez and del Toro to Produce Rodrigo Garcia#8217;s Mom and ChildCuaron, Gonzalez and del Toro to Produce Rodrigo Garcia#8217;s Mom and Child/a/li lia target=_blank rel=nofollow href=http://www.slashfilm.com/2008/09/04/zack-snyder-guillermo-del-toro-and-gore-verbinski-to-direct-heavy-metal/ title=Zack Snyder, Guillermo del Toro and Gore Verbinski to Direct Heavy Metal!?Zack Snyder, Guillermo del Toro and Gore Verbinski to Direct Heavy Metal!?/a/li lia target=_blank rel=nofollow href=http://www.slashfilm.com/2008/09/02/stephen-sommers-replaces-guillermo-del-toro-on-tarzan/ title=Stephen Sommers Replaces Guillermo del Toro on TarzanStephen Sommers Replaces Guillermo del Toro on Tarzan/a/li /ul img src=http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/slashfilm/~4/f8qiS8I5ZJ4 height=1 width=1/ a target=_blank rel=nofollow href=’http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/slashfilm/~3/f8qiS8I5ZJ4/ ‘Via [slashfilm]/abr

He’s moving forward with another producing project on his insanely busy slate — emThe Champions/em, a big screen version of the British TV series of the 60s. a href=http://www.variety.com/article/VR1117995957.html?categoryid=13amp;cs=1amp;nid=2564emVariety/em/a reports that a href=http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0003160/Christopher McQuarrie/a will be penning the script for United Artists, and acting as a producer alongside Del Toro, Tom Cruise, and Paula Wagner. Del Toro optioned the project last November, and seemingly mindful of the anniversary, has brought on McQuarrie. br /br /Frankly, I’m surprised emThe Champions /emhasn’t been grabbed long before now, since everyone is dying to have a franchise of superheroes. The series (which ran for a single year) followed a team of government agents who were rescued from a plane crash in the Himalayas by an advanced civilization. As if rescue wasn’t nice enough, the super civilization gave them superpowers. Yeah, this is totally going to end up a franchise.br /br /Del Toro has apparently found himself a writer as happy to be sans sleep as he’s — McQuarrie is a hot property at UA after emValkyrie/em. In addition to emThe Champions/em, he’ll also be penning and producing a href=http://www.amazon.com/Monster-Florence-Douglas-Preston/dp/0446581194emThe Monster of Florence/em/a. Based on Douglas Preston’s book, it will follow his investigation into the serial killer nicknamed the Monster of Florence, Italy’s version of Jack the Ripper. Preston discovered that one of the murders had been committed on his just-purchased Italian property, and decided to pair up with Italian journalist Mario Spezi to try and solve the case. Their well-meaning investigation ended up embroiled in controversy, arrests, and all kinds of tense insanity that should make for a really enjoyable crime movie — and be simple peasy for the writer of emThe Usual Suspects/em.p style=clear: both; padding: 8px 0 0 0; height: 2px; font-size: 1px; border: 0; margin: 0; padding: 0; /ppa href=http://www.cinematical.com/2008/11/17/christopher-mcquarrie-lands-the-champions-and-the-monster-of/ rel=bookmark title=Permanent link to this entryPermalink/a | a href=http://www.cinematical.com/forward/1374009/ title=Send this entry to a friend via emailEmail this/a | a href=http://www.cinematical.com/2008/11/17/christopher-mcquarrie-lands-the-champions-and-the-monster-of/#comments title=View reader comments on this entryComments/a/p pa href=http://feedads.googleadservices.com/~a/N5G361oTLxgJ7xyq7iwI_s85uOw/aimg src=http://feedads.googleadservices.com/~a/N5G361oTLxgJ7xyq7iwI_s85uOw/i border=0 ismap=true/img/a/pdiv class=feedflare a href=http://feedproxy.google.com/~f/weblogsinc/cinematical?a=MSNAr1HQimg src=http://feedproxy.google.com/~f/weblogsinc/cinematical?i=MSNAr1HQ border=0/img/a a href=http://feedproxy.google.com/~f/weblogsinc/cinematical?a=iuDMTJKximg src=http://feedproxy.google.com/~f/weblogsinc/cinematical?i=iuDMTJKx border=0/img/a /divimg src=http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/weblogsinc/cinematical/~4/tbG9of1twQM height=1 width=1/ a target=_blank rel=nofollow href=’http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/weblogsinc/cinematical/~3/tbG9of1twQM/’Via [cinematical]/abr
