Still more King of the Hill news

Geez, for a show that was recently canceled there is sure a lot of news about it. First, we heard that King of the Hill was being canceled by FOX at the end of this season (though it will probably remain on the schedule through 2010 because of long-term production of episodes). Then, the lovely and talented Bob Sassone reported that the show could be picked up by ABC, who seems to be in the market for other network programs as of late. Now comes word that repeats (is that term now taboo?) of the Mike Judge series will be heading to Adult Swim’s lineup.
That’s right. Cartoon Network’s older brother will be picking up the 11-year-old program, making it the next-to-last FOX animated series to air on its program schedule (The Simpsons would be the last, and I’ve no idea if it will ever make it to Adult Swim).
Election Night: CNN (Part 1)

Election night! Election night! Let’s check out the folks at CNN. Is Wolf Blitzer going to lose his mind? Is Anderson Cooper going to be pretty? Is John King going to lovingly stroke the magic board? Let’s find out.
9:00: That’s what we’ve got for now. I’ll be back shortly with more updates– and maybe we’ll have a new president. Not that CNN will project that.
8:59: Soledad O’Brien is looking at demographic information with Mr. Magoo. Poor Mr. Magoo can’t work the touch screen because he’s not tall enough. Hilariously, this comes at the point in which they’re talking about how age is a factor in the way people vote.
8:57: Drink. They’re not even making a projection in Arizona.
852: Can someone tell me what’s up with these clean coal commercials? This is the 7,000th one I’ve seen today.
8:48: James Carville looks more and more like a reanimated corpse every day.
Current Television wants you to Twitter and Digg on election night

My friends, if you thought the coverage that’s been going on since the day after the 2006 Congressional election has been overwhelming, you ain’t seen nothing yet. Come sunrise on November 4th the television airwaves will be inundated with election coverage, comment, pontification, and general BS. Red states will become blue, blue states will become red, graphs will be drawn on easel boards with black marker and someone will predict the winner of the entire Presidential election at 7:00:01 p.m.
So, if you are wholly disinterested in the old way that the elections are covered you may want to tune into Current TV, or its website if you don’t have the channel on your digital box, for an alternative to get the results you need. In this case, it’s you, the couch potato that you’re, who will be providing the coverage. It’s called “Current Diggs the Election” and the way it works will be one-of-a-kind.

Hey, whatever happened to Demetri Martin’s show?

Remember way back when the news came that comic Demetri Martin was going to get his own weekly show on Comedy Central, one that would be produced by Jon Stewart and his Busboy Productions? It was supposed to debut sometime this year, presumably months ago, but here we are nearing the end of October and still no word on when the show is going to debut.
There’s a listing on the IMDb for Important Things with Demetri Martin, and even titles for two episodes, but no dates for when those episodes will be shown (just question marks, and when even the IMDb is confused, we’re all in trouble). The Comedy Central site doesn’t have any word on the show at all. It’s not even listed on the show page, and a search only brings up Martin’s specials. Not sure if he’s been on The Daily Show lately.

It sounds like the title of an mid-90s game show on Nickelodeon, but it’s actually the title of a new syndicated adventure series from Sam Raimi.
Wow, “syndicated adventure series.” Whatever happened to all of those cheesy syndicated adventure shows that used to dot the television landscape? There used to be dozens of them on the weekends and late at night. Sitcoms too. There aren’t too many of them anymore, replaced by reality, home improvement, court shows, and speak shows, or not replaced at all.
CBS is sticking with winners, looking for new ones

For CBS, tradition and consistency are the keystones for success. So while CBS Corp. president and CEO Leslie Moonves talked about a few new projects in an interview with TV Week, he also shared the news that the network will be booking more Survivor and The Amazing Race editions in the seasons to come.
To this I state, hooray! Especially for The Breathtaking Race. There’s a reason this show has won the Emmy so many times. The current race has been terrific. Survivor seems to be having a bounce back season, as well.
