I’m liking the leaner, meaner Law & Order: SVU

October 6, 2008

Something was amiss during the last three seasons of Law & Order: SVU. With Mariska Hargitay’s pregnancy leave, changes in Christopher Meloni’s character, the introduction and departure of some cast members, and the demotion of Detective Munch to a desk, the show seemed to have lost its way. It was tough to watch as more melodrama seeped into the show and pushed away the criminal procedurals that have made this Law & Order franchise so popular.

However, change may be on the horizon. With the first two episodes of the tenth season now under their belt, there’s a feeling of normalcy that has returned to the show. A sense that the producers might be done tinkering with the program for the time being, despite the introduction of Michaela McManus as new A.D.A Kim Greylek. Some melodrama is still there - they’re human beings after all - but the cases are first and foremost for the show.

Survivor: She is Obviously Post-Op!

Sugar is just a bit like Betty Boop
(S17E03) “I’m like an animal in the jungle. I want to prounce on someone.” - Paloma

What’s it with this season’s castaways on Survivor adding in an extra “r” whenever they feel enjoy it? Last week it was Michelle saying “frickle” instead of “fickle.” Maybe it’s some new fad or tied in with the web folks who put an apostrophe whenever they end a word with an “s.” So, we have this “r” thing going on, a man with a questionable British accent, and a blond Betty Boop, and one castaway is is beginning to look like Peter from Heroes as he gets scruffier. I think it’s going to be a decent season. Read on past the jump for the review! Read more

Kate Walsh has a thing for boys with huge eyebrows - VIDEO

Kate WalshMy first true Television crush was probably Jordan Catalano on My So-Called Life. Dreamy, troubled, with eyes like pools of water — and he sure leaned great, didn’t he? And then there was Casey McCall on Sports Night, Josh Lyman on the The West Wing … OK, so maybe I have an overactive fantasy life.

America's Got Talent(S03E17) “The ideal new act in America.” - The Narrator

Not to worry, I won’t spoil who won the America’s Got Talent before the jump. So since I’ve space to kill before I chit chat about the result show, let’s use it for stats, shall we?

What we don’t see on Survivor - VIDEOS

October 1, 2008

Survivor GabonI’ve been a Survivor fan since the first season of the show. Now, that was back before widespread broadband world wide web connections and the official show website mainly had the bios, recaps and some photos. But now it has content there, especially videos, which catch us up on all the things we miss in the 40-odd minutes we see weekly on the television.

In last week’s double episode it looks like more show ended up on the editing floor than it did on the show. And I’m here to share some of that with you!

Dexter giving a dad's day talk to Cody's class

(S03E01) Some changes are in the air for Dexter and its crew this season, judging by the happenings in the first episode. Batista is promoted to sergeant — yay for him — and he seems to be taking his new position very seriously. Will this responsible cop deal last? I like Batista and hope that it will, but the set-up makes me wonder.

Melrose Place and Partridge F amilyAs everyone knows, there are no new ideas in Hollywood. So, it’s no surprise TV is looking to the past for future new shows.

Variety reports
that The Partridge Family is getting a “tongue-in-cheek, modern-day” remake. A former Cashmere Mafia writer is on board and insiders state the project will be getting a network deal soon.

Meanwhile, E! Online has scoop from former Melrose Place star Lisa Rinna that the soapy drama might follow in 90210’s footsteps at the CW, though that network denies the rumor. Read more

Dancing With The Stars: Week 1 Results

Ashly Costa(S07E03) We’re really getting back into the swing of things now. After the whirlwind of 25 performances in two nights, it was time for a proper results show. As usual, that’s both good and bad. Results shows always hold the prospect of musical guests, and professional numbers.

Unfortunately, they also have a tendency to bring iffy comedy bits, and dull taped packages. It’s a bit of a crapshoot, but usually worth tuning in. Because, as we all know, no matter how sure you are that a certain couple is leaving, you just never really know. Am I hinting at a surprise elimination? Or just trying to trick you into clicking your way past the jump? Only one way to find out.
