While they’re contracted until 2011, Parker claims a big-screen finale could be the way to go: We talked about maybe some day doing a motion picture to sort of end it all, and that seems like the ideal idea. That’s been a big thought to do the last show as a movie. During the same interview, Parker also says that what eventually became the three-part Imaginationland episode was originally supposed to be their second feature film … until the guys realized they needed more content for the season. The Imaginationland episode eventually went on to win an Emmy.pFiled under: a href=http://www.cinematical.com/category/Animation/ rel=tagAnimation/a, a href=http://www.cinematical.com/category/comedy/ rel=tagComedy/a, a href=http://www.cinematical.com/category/drama/ rel=tagDrama/a, a href=http://www.cinematical.com/category/casting/ rel=tagCasting/a, a href=http://www.cinematical.com/category/deals/ rel=tagDeals/a, a href=http://www.cinematical.com/category/fandom/ rel=tagFandom/a, a href=http://www.cinematical.com/category/diy-filmmaking/ rel=tagDIY/Filmmaking/a, a href=http://www.cinematical.com/category/newsstand/ rel=tagNewsstand/a, a href=http://www.cinematical.com/category/oscar-watch/ rel=tagOscar Watch/a/ppa href=http://www.cinematical.com/2008/11/18/stuff-and-things-miley-cyrus-knocks-on-oscars-door/ rel=bookmarkContinue reading emStuff and Things: Miley Cyrus Knocks on Oscar’s Door/em/a/pp style=clear: both; padding: 8px 0 0 0; height: 2px; font-size: 1px; border: 0; margin: 0; padding: 0; /ppa href=http://www.cinematical.com/2008/11/18/stuff-and-things-miley-cyrus-knocks-on-oscars-door/ rel=bookmark title=Permanent link to this entryPermalink/a | a href=http://www.cinematical.com/forward/1376116/ title=Send this entry to a friend via emailEmail this/a | a href=http://www.cinematical.com/2008/11/18/stuff-and-things-miley-cyrus-knocks-on-oscars-door/#comments title=View reader comments on this entryComments/a/p pa href=http://feedads.googleadservices.com/~a/LmN2FHmKY6XQgvlR8b9TjaW2SC8/aimg src=http://feedads.googleadservices.com/~a/LmN2FHmKY6XQgvlR8b9TjaW2SC8/i border=0 ismap=true/img/a/pdiv class=feedflare a href=http://feedproxy.google.com/~f/weblogsinc/cinematical?a=k4E00ZLBimg src=http://feedproxy.google.com/~f/weblogsinc/cinematical?i=k4E00ZLB border=0/img/a a href=http://feedproxy.google.com/~f/weblogsinc/cinematical?a=rjuB1Bk0img src=http://feedproxy.google.com/~f/weblogsinc/cinematical?i=rjuB1Bk0 border=0/img/a /divimg src=http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/weblogsinc/cinematical/~4/EpINJbA8ikM height=1 width=1/ a target=_blank rel=nofollow href=’http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/weblogsinc/cinematical/~3/EpINJbA8ikM/’Via [cinematical]/abr

In a new three-part interview over at the LA Times, writer-director Christopher Nolan has returned from his Batman vacation and finally opens up a bit about The Dark Knight’s ridiculous box office take, Heath Ledger’s performance and whether or not he’d be interested in directing a third Batman film.
Sure, on paper he had appear stupid not to take a gig helming the next Bat-flick, but Nolan has always been a man who takes one thing at a time — and notes in this interview how much he dislikes the whole act of “setting up the sequel,” although he kinda does it himself at the end of Batman Begins when Gordon shows Batman the Joker card. Regarding that scene, however, Nolan adds: “But for me that was just about the excitement of people leaving the theater with the sense that now we’ve the character up and running. I wanted people to walk away with that sense in their head. You know, that he’s become the Batman in the motion picture.”

Later on in the interview — which covers Knight’s box office, Ledger’s performance and the inevitable sequel — Nolan, who says he’d next want to take on a “very intimate, small story that happens to be photographed on a ridiculously large scale,” questions whether he had even want to make a third Batman film. He says, “There are two things to be said. One is the emphasis on story. What’s the story? Is there a story that’s going to keep me emotionally invested for the couple of years that it will take to make another one? That’s the overriding question. On a more superficial level, I’ve to ask the question: How many good third movies in a franchise can people name? [Laughs.] At the same time, in taking on the second one, we had the challenge of trying to make a great second movie, and there have not been too many of those either. It’s all about the story really. If the story is there, everything is possible. I hope that was a suitably slippery answer.”

If you’re offended by the word porno, stay the f*ck away. This ain’t for you/span. — Kevin Smithbr /br /Last month, I traveled to Red Bank, New Jersey and enjoyed a very cool lunch with a very cool dude by the name of a target=_blank rel=nofollow href=http://www.moviefone.com/celebrity/kevin-smith/1104645/mainKevin Smith/a. While we scarfed down some tasty Italian food, I recorded roughly an hour and a half of our conversation — all of which would be way too much to read in one post. Thus, I’ve decided to break some stuff up into sections and post them separately, then I’ll be back with much more in the coming days leading up to the October 31st release of the pretty hilarious a target=_blank rel=nofollow href=http://www.moviefone.com/movie/zack-and-miri-make-a-porno/32484/mainspan style=font-style: italic; font-weight: bold;Zack and Miri Make a Porno/span/a. At one point during our conversation, Kevin told me about the alternate title Bob Weinstein wanted for span style=font-style: italic;Zack and Miri/span. Check it out: br /br /span style=font-weight: bold;Kevin Smith:/span That [title] sh*t didn’t come up until we were deep in the process. Because when I was sitting around with Harvey [Weinstein], we were talking about some span style=font-style: italic;Clerks II/span stuff and he asked what I wanted to do next. So I stated there was this movie I was thinking about making called span style=font-style: italic;Zack and Miri Make a Porno/span, and he goes … br /br /span style=font-style: italic;[the following is written out in script form because it’s easier to read, though keep in mind these are all still Smith’s words]/spanbr /br /span style=font-weight: bold;Harvey Weinstein:/span Done. Green lit.br /span style=font-weight: bold;Kevin Smith:/span Don’t you wanna know what it’s about?br /span style=font-weight: bold;Harvey Weinstein:/span Kevin, doesn’t that title state it all? That’s a great title. Hopefully it’s about a little more when we’re done, but so be it.br /br /So we were all up and running — Seth [Rogen] read it, loved it — and so it never really occurred to anyone. Two weeks into shooting I get a phone call from Bob Weinstein, and Bob goes …br /br /span style=font-weight: bold;Bob Weinstein:/span Kevin, I’ve been thinking about the title a lot. That title just gives it all away. The music looks to be extraordinary./p pIf this man brings the same emotive energy to the Oscars that he#8217;s done with the Star Trek score; I’ll be very pleased./p pBest of luck Giacchino, we’ll be hearing from you shortly./p pa target=_blank rel=nofollow href=http://feeds.feedburner.com/~a/themovieblog/VkTh?a=eUyK5Wimg src=http://feeds.feedburner.com/~a/themovieblog/VkTh?i=eUyK5W border=0/img/a/pdiv class=feedflare a target=_blank rel=nofollow href=http://feeds.feedburner.com/~f/themovieblog/VkTh?a=ZaTRNimg src=http://feeds.feedburner.com/~f/themovieblog/VkTh?i=ZaTRN border=0/img/a a target=_blank rel=nofollow href=http://feeds.feedburner.com/~f/themovieblog/VkTh?a=OK9YNimg src=http://feeds.feedburner.com/~f/themovieblog/VkTh?i=OK9YN border=0/img/a /divimg src=http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/themovieblog/VkTh/~4/457620827 height=1 width=1/ a target=_blank rel=nofollow href=’http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/themovieblog/VkTh/~3/457620827/michael-giacchino-lands-gig-as-music-director-for-the-oscars ‘Via [themovieblog]/abr

In addition to one regular performance from each couple, they all got together for a big group number as well. Shotyme stopped by to choreograph what was billed as the Old School Hip Hop performance. As you might anticipate, that went superior for some than it did for others. We also had a special guest judge this week. Michael Flatley, best known for Lord of the Dance, filled in for Len Goodman. He got the full emDWTS/em experience, witnessing some fantastic performances… and Cloris. I#8217;m not sure how much of the production will be shot using performance capture, but if they’re filming on practical sets, I don#8217;t comprehend why Burton would shoot in 2D. Some would argue that converting to 3D in post production gives you a lot more control over the depth and look of the 3D. But it is generally an expensive and exhausting process to convert live-action 2D to 3D, which leads me to believe that much of Alice is probably being shot on a green screen stages. pstrongRelated Stories/strong/p ul class=related_post lia target=_blank rel=nofollow href=http://www.slashfilm.com/2008/11/17/first-look-johnny-depp-as-the-madd-hatter/ title=First Look: Johnny Depp as the Madd Hatter?First Look: Johnny Depp as the Madd Hatter?/a/li lia target=_blank rel=nofollow href=http://www.slashfilm.com/2008/10/26/christopher-lee-danny-elfman-and-eleanor-tomlinson-go-to-burtons-wonderland/ title=Christopher Lee, Danny Elfman and Eleanor Tomlinson Go To Burton#8217;s WonderlandChristopher Lee, Danny Elfman and Eleanor Tomlinson Go To Burton#8217;s Wonderland/a/li lia target=_blank rel=nofollow href=http://www.slashfilm.com/2008/10/24/crispin-glover-in-burtons-alice-in-wonderland/ title=Crispin Glover in Burton#8217;s Alice in WonderlandCrispin Glover in Burton#8217;s Alice in Wonderland/a/li lia target=_blank rel=nofollow href=http://www.slashfilm.com/2008/10/15/tim-burtons-alice-in-wonderland-to-be-more-engagingpsychological/ title=Tim Burton#8217;s Alice in Wonderland to Be More Engaging/PsychologicalTim Burton#8217;s Alice in Wonderland to Be More Engaging/Psychological/a/li lia target=_blank rel=nofollow href=http://www.slashfilm.com/2008/10/07/anne-hathaway-and-helena-bonam-carter-in-burtons-wonderland/ title=Anne Hathaway and Helena Bonam Carter in Burton#8217;s WonderlandAnne Hathaway and Helena Bonam Carter in Burton#8217;s Wonderland/a/li lia target=_blank rel=nofollow href=http://www.slashfilm.com/2008/09/29/matt-lucas-cast-as-tweedledee-and-tweedledum-in-tim-burtons-alice/ title=Matt Lucas Cast as Tweedledee and Tweedledum in Tim Burton#8217;s AliceMatt Lucas Cast as Tweedledee and Tweedledum in Tim Burton#8217;s Alice/a/li /ul img src=http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/slashfilm/~4/Q3CT66OJT8Y height=1 width=1/ a target=_blank rel=nofollow href=’http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/slashfilm/~3/Q3CT66OJT8Y/ ‘Via [slashfilm]/abr
